Founded in 1993, Arizona Women In Tune is a jewel of the LGBT performing arts offerings in the Valley of the Sun. A diverse, vibrant group of sixty strong, AZWIT is a community of passionate women who love what they do. Concert performances produce a musical experience that spans the spectrum of cultural and woman-identified interpretation of music. AZWIT is recognized not only as a performing arts organization but also as a valuable member of the broader LGBT community. A very important aspect of AZWIT’s mission is to increase lesbian visibility by providing a safe and nurturing environment for all women not only in their membership but also in their audience. Concerts may focus on serious issues such as breast cancer enabling us to explore the intensity of illness and the strength of the human spirit. Others deliver lighter, more playful experiences such as lesbian dating and the comical ups and downs of exploring new love.

AZWIT is a non-auditioned chorale group and maintains a membership of women with various levels of musical abilities. Unwavering in commitment and loyalty to a united voice, AZWIT continues to make strides in bringing music that is relevant, passionate and provocative. Focusing on music that advocates for silenced voices in all communities, AZWIT is dedicated to reaching out across hatred and prejudice through music.
